TANZANIA : Basketball team gear up for zonal meet

The National basketball team is expected to start residential training early next month ahead of the Africa zone five championship set for Kigali a month later.

According to the president of the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) President, Richard Kasesela, the camp was delayed due to cash problems. Initially, TBF had planned training sessions to start this month.

TBF has failed to raise the required Sh8,340,000 that would have catered for a six-month training programme as per the bodys calendar.

"We have failed to raise the sum for our planned four phase training programme, so it has been trimmed down to two. However, we are still in need of Sh9.02 to meet the two phase training programme and compete in the championship," said Kasesela.
