NIGERIA : NBBF Set 2009 Agenda

President of FIBA-Africa Zone 3, Muktah Kalleh has assured that Nigeria's basketball will be given a full lift in the new year, saying the Nigerian Basketball Federation is already making effort to get some sponsors for the Premier League.

The former national basket-ball team player who disclosed this to Complex Sports in Lagos, said all stakeholders in the dunking and slamming game must come together to ensure basketball regains its rightful position in Nigerian sports.
"Personally, I am not too impressed with the situation of basketball this year but we have all realized the need to work harder and make sure we do much better next year, said the dark complexioned basket-ball administrator.
"We have lots of international assignments next year and we must make sure we do our best to be in the forefront. The African Championship will be held next year, we have club championships and other com-petitions, so we need to plan properly for the new year," Kaleh explained.

He also disclosed that the Nigeria Basketball federation will not fail to get a sponsor for the Premier League next year.
"We played this year's league without a sponsor and we know how difficult it was. We have however resolved to go all out and get a sponsor or more for next year's league and luckily for us, we are already getting some signals towards that direction.

Meanwhile, Kalleh has called on all basketball stakeholders to support the programmes of the Federation in the New Year.
"The only way we can succeed is to get the support of all stakeholders and everyone must be ready to contribute to the development of the game in Nigeria," he concludes.
