14th Champions Cup for women - classification 5 – 6: CSA shock Djoliba 59 - 57
CSA of Ivory Coast wound up in the fifth position when they shocked Djoliba 59-57 in a closely fought game to decide the fifth and sixth place.
The Ivorians got off to a bad star as they trailed 8-13 in the first quarter.But they did better in the second as they battled from down by tally a 13-14 scoreline at the end of an almost evenly contested second quarter.
The third quarter was a nip and tuck affair that went back and fourth as Djoliba were down 45-41 only to recover and tie the scores 45-45 as the ten minutes ended before the last one. CSA were up by a huge 24-16 edge.
Djoliba battled in the fourth but a determined CSA were not to let go the advantage without a fight as Malians charged after a 48-48 tie. CSA raced up again at 59-55 and went in early celebrations as soon as a last second three point attempt by Nasilla Traore went wide.
Diarra Adjara led her side with 17 points while Kouyatte Kani collected another 14 in that sweet win over the former champions. Djoliba had Nasilla hitting game high of 20 points and Mbengue Ndeye contributing 12.
