14th Champions Cup for women : Primero won APR 81-57 in the first quarter finals


Primero de Agosto of Angola beat APR of Rwanda 81-54 to win the opening quarter finals of the 14th FIBA Africa Champions Cup for men game played at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium today.

Angolans blasted to a huge 30-15 difference in the first quarter they totally dominated. But the Rwandese regrouped and gave as good account of themselves in the second quarter where despite trailing 13-19 gave last year's runners up a run for their money.
In the third quarter, Agosto hanged up 19-11 as APR covered every face of the court battling the winners basket for basket to the delight of the their coach Kavedisa Veselan. Their hard work was however rewarded in the last quarter which they taking with a 15-13 margin.
Milicente Ostrida led Agosto with game high 18 points, Mauricio Nasicella connected for 17 while Cardoso Angela managed another 11 for th Angolans. APR , who were urged on by a small Kenyan crowd was led by Purity Auma who bagged 12 while Blandine Ndaya collected 10.
