14th Champions Cup for women : Eagle wings lost to Radi 55 - 75
Eagle Wings lost today their last FIBA Africa Champions Cup game when they were beaten 75-55 by Radi of DR Congo in a classification match played at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.
The results ensure that the Kenyans wound up the event in the 10th position, The Congolese were placed ninth. Both teams had earlier met in their pool A match which Radi prevailed 71-62.
It was Radi's Matundui Masilla who connected for the game opener before Bridgit Nanzala hit back off a three point miss by Anastasia Njeri. Radi chalked up points and were ahead 20-14 at the end of the quarter.
The second quarter also started with a Radi opener as Nyota Muganae hit a basket and nailed another one as the victors sailed away 41-28 as both teams retired for the half time break.
Eunice Ouma fired a three pointer that saw Wings start off brilliantly before Radi would respond with a free shot from Muganae. Ouma hit another one as the scores stood at 38-42 as Radi wasted easy baskets.
Lukokesha Ukute banged in two from beyond the strip that blew open a close game 57-45 and her second had the scores standing at 57-45 as the quarter ended.
Mukoso Nyota competed a three point play pushing the lead up 60-45, soon it was all systems go and a strong 18 points cushion inside two minutes of p;ay. Muganea made it 65-45 as Radi build their biggest advantage at 22 points.
She then iced the cake with one free shot as tie expired.
Musau led all scorers with game high 23 points, Masalla scored 19 points while Muganea contribute 14. Wings had 17 frpom Ouma, 12 from Caroline Achieng, and 10 from Volnet Wanyama as Wings were placed 10th.
