UGANDA : Nabisunsa Turn Focus on Amazon

by Charles Mutebi
Kampala

WHEN the Nabisunsa girls take to the basketball court this afternoon, the Amazon Rhino should excuse them if they appear disinterested in the spoils of their MTN-FUBA encounter.
After all, six of the players on the secondary school's team have just returned from Tunisia where they represented Uganda at the girl's under 18 Africa basketball championship - a historic feat as no other Ugandan basketball team have been to such an elite level.
The task of making an immediate mental readjustment from continental competition to local league may prove as unbeatable for the girls as the four countries they faced in Tunis.
But Nabisunsa must see off the backlog of matches that piled up as they were excused from league demands to concentrate on preparing for national duty. With 12 games, Nabisunsa have played the least number of matches in the women's league and their 17 points have left them second from bottom.
Three of those matches came in the second round and Nabisunsa only managed to win the one against Crane high. Rhino have played four more matches than Nabisunsa and sit in mid-table with 20 points.
