SEYCHELLES : Sanken Basketball Cup replaces SBF Cup
SANKEN has taken over the sponsorship of the usual Seychelles Basketball Federation (SBF) Cup tournament.
Premium Cobras’ president Roy Collie broke the news to Sports Nation yesterday and said: “I’m happy Sanken has responded positively and its financial support has surely kept Seychelles basketball alive and kicking.”
In fact, Mr Collie decided, eight days ago, to sponsor the tournament himself after the SBF suspended the tournament during the course of last week as it did not have enough money to pay match officials.
Mr Collie also told Sports Nation he did this for the love of basketball.
Although running the tournament will cost at least R40,000, he said there was a need to save the tournament and the sport. At the same time, he invited all potential sponsors to come forward and help in every way they can.
