Lugogo

Uganda will be hoping intense preparations produce good results when they face Rwanda in the Africa Zone 5 Junior Championships at Lugogo Indoor this evening.

Rwanda became the first country to report for the Under-18 Championship, jetting in on Friday and have had enough time to train and rest for the encounter that begins 6pm. "The team has prepared well. I watched our boys playing a friendly against league giants Sadolin Power and they looked good," Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (Fuba) treasurer Chris Kyebambe told Daily Monitor over the weekend.

Winners of the five-day event will automatically qualify for the Africa Junior Championship due October in Egypt. Uganda's girls team only has Kenya to contend with and they take on the neighbours in an earlier fixture at 4pm. The first game pits Sudan against Burundi.

Today - Men
Sudan v Burundi 2pm
Uganda v Rwanda 6pm

Girls
Uganda v Kenya 4pm
