CABO VERDE : Basketball Federation annuls South Santiago senior mens basketball championship
After Seven Stars appealed the decision of the Santiago South Associaton, the results were as follow, Santiago South will not send a representative to the National Basketball Championship. The Cape Verdean Basketball Federation (FCBB) decided, following a legal opinion issued by its Jurisdictional Council, to annul the South Santiago senior mens championship for the 2007/2008 season.
After Seven Stars appealed the decision of the Santiago South Associaton, the results were as follow, Santiago South will not send a representative to the National Basketball Championship. The Cape Verdean Basketball Federation (FCBB) decided, following a legal opinion issued by its Jurisdictional Council, to annul the South Santiago senior mens championship for the 2007/2008 season. The FCBBs decision brings an end to the confrontation that had pitted Seven Stars against ABC - both of the Praia-based teams were claiming the regional title for themselves.
With this decision by the FCBB, which also decided to annul the announcements issued by the Federations general secretary Carlos Furtado and treasurer Nuno Levy following the last game in the final phase of the senior mens playoff, Cape Verdes largest region will not be sending a representative to the national basketball championship.
In closing the book on this incident, which delayed and stained the image of the national basketball championship, the FCBB called on associated teams to take the necessary measures to ensure that this type of situation does not repeat itself in the future. Indeed, this was not the first time that such cases have taken place in the South Santiago region.
