TANZANIA : Basket Kings Return Home Empty Handed
by Titus Munga
Arusha
The Arusha Basketball Kings are now working to reorganize themselves for the coming competitions after coming home empty handed from the East African intercity basket ball championship in Dar es Salaam.
Elia Mwabukusi, King's captain told the Arusha Times that his team lacked funds for any meaningful preparations despite their appeal to different stakeholders for monetary support.
He said they had planned numerous friendly meets before the intercity meeting but failed due to financial constraints.
Mwabukusi said they were all out to strengthen their team, recent defeats notwithstanding.
The intercity meet involved Nairobi and Mombasa of Kenya; Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Mbeya and Mwanza, from Tanzania and Kampala, Uganda. The Dream team of Dar es Salaam took the cup in the men's championship.
