NIGERIA : Delta in final showdown against First Bank
Determine to bounce back to reclaim the second position of the 2008 Zenith Bank Women League, Delta Force basketball club of Asaba will today (Saturday) take to the floor against runaway champion, First Bank basketball club of Lagos.
The Lateef Erinfolami coached Force from Delta State will attempt to do the impossible and at least put paid to the invisibility of the Elephant Girls. According to the former Nigeria international and newly named assistant coach of the Nigeria national U18 men team that the bankers are beatable and says he has instructed his players to be prepared for the match.
First Bank remain the only team that has not been beaten in the Nigeria local scene in the last four years a record coach Adewumi Aderemi and his wards are not ready to trade off for anything even as they have been crowned the undisputed champion of the Nigerian women league.
Aderemi told www.fiba-afrique.org in a chat that his team is not ready to underrate any opposition in the Zenith Bank sponsored league.
The Delta Force, First Bank clash is the last game of the 2008 Zenith Bank Women League season.
Other games billed for today (Saturday) at the sports hall of the national stadium, Lagos includes AHIP versus FCT Angels; Plateau Rocks will engage Amazons; Nigeria Immigration locks horn with Sunshine Angels of Akure while Dolphin will take to the floor against Nigeria Customs.
On Thursday Sunshine Angels defeated Amazons by 70-50 points, Immigration was 68-59 points better than AHIP, just as FCT Angels fell to Plateau Rocks by 56-52 points, Delta Force had the better of Nigeria Customs with a 49-42 points win while First Bank white-wash Dolphin by 89-47 points.
