NIGERIA : City league returns after one week break
Action resume Tuesday in the Lagos City Basketball league after a one week break due to crowded activities of the Zenith bank Women League which ended last Saturday in Lagos.
According to the organizers of the league, Lagos State Basketball Association, LSBBA, four matches will be on the bill Tuesday with 2007 runner-up, Union Bank basketball club battling it out against giant killer, Whales basketball club at 10.00 hours local time.
Whales players and their coach, Charles Osho says they are looking forward to creating another upset after they humbled Ebun Comets 60-59 last week.
The players are confident that if they can do it against Comets they can do it against any team in the league.
The era of big teams is over and my players are looking forward to the encounter against the Union Bank with a promise to repeat what was achieved against Ebun Comets last week, the youthful coach says.
Flames basketball club will slug it out against Islanders at 12.30 hours local time just as Police Bombers will engage Ikorodu Kings at 14.00 hours, while the last match of the day will be between Chariot and Ebun Comets basketball club at 15.30 hours.
Two matches will be decided on Wednesday with Islanders taking on Chariot at 13.00 hours while Union Bank battles it out against Police Bombers basketball club.
Actions continue on Thursday and Friday when the first stanza of the league comes to and end and the mid-season transfer window will be thrown open to allow the movement of players within teams in the league.
