LIBERIA : Pythons prepare for club championship
As the date for the Zone III basketball Club Champion of the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) draws nearer, Liberias champion NPA Pythons has begun intensive training for the competition.
The team is undergoing some physical fitness programs including long distance jogging.
Speaking to this paper at the weekend, the Head Coach of the team, Matthew Gbarmore, expressed optimism that his team will make a mark at the upcoming competition slated for next month in Nigeria.
He called on the Management of the National Port Authority (NPA) to support the team by underwriting the cost of the teams travel as well as per diems, among others, to ensure the successful participation of the team. He also assured the NPA Management that his players are fit and ready for the club championship and called on fans of the team to support the team financially to enable it team make the trip to Nigeria.
Pythons could not represent the country last year due to the clubs failure to shoulder the traveling expenses of the team which led to the team being fined.
