UGANDA : Hawks face double daunting task

By Charles Mutebi

MTN–FUBA men’s Division One leaders, the Kyambogo Warriors, make the long trip north to engage the second-from-bottom Gulu Hawks on Sunday, in the second of two daunting matches for the home side.

First, the Hawks host the Nkumba Marines, who lie in sixth place and have lost all four of their previous games, and are set to end the first round a couple of slots out of play-off contention.
The Hawks pulled off the upset of the first round when they defeated then-table-leading KIU but the Marines, who remain faithful to the full court press, should pose an overwhelming task.
And so will the Warriors who, while don’t press, possess too much attacking flair to be ultimately threatened by their hosts. The 2007 finalists are tied on 15 points with second-placed Sadolin Power and the Mogas Falcons in third, but lead due to a superior point’s difference.
A win on Sunday will see them finish the first round two points in front, while a loss would leave them just a point ahead.

Meanwhile, the winner of the KIU - Miracle tie will become the third club to end the first round on 15 points and leapfrog Power to second place.
