TANZANIA : Inter-Cities Basketball Opens

Dar es Salaam city basketball team "The Dream Team" meet Kampala in the tenth edition of the Inter-Cities tourney's opener at the National Indoor Stadium today.
Basketball Dar es Salaam (BD) information officer Michael Maluwe said yesterday that the match takes off 16.00 hours .
All preparations for the tournament are over and Foreign Affairs Minister Bernard Membe is expected to grace the opening ceremony, he stated.
The opening match will be preceded by the opening ceremony at 14.00.
The Kampala basketball team had already arrived in Dar while teams from Nairobi, Jinja and Mombasa were expected to arrive late yesterday.
Other teams to feature in the tournament are Mwanza, Mbeya, Arusha, Zanzibar, Addis Ababa, Kigali, Lumbumbashi and Mogadishu.
The fixture for the ladies teams is expected to be released today, with teams from Dar es Salaam, Mombasa, Kampala and Nairobi confirming to compete.
Uniliver is the main sponsor of the tourney through its detergent brand, Omo.
