LIBYA : Libya Offers to Host Basketball's African Nations Championship

The Libyan Basketball Federation has officially offered to host the 1st African Nations Championship qualifiers for Basketball's World Cup. Alen Karar, the head of the African Basketball Federation who recently paid a visit to the country and also made a courtesy call on the Libyan Leader, made the announcement of Libya's application.
During his visit to Libya, Karar also had a meeting with Eng. Mohammed Al-Qathafi, chairman of the Libyan Olympic Committee.
Libya's application is expected to be discussed at the African Federation's next meeting.

In the meantime, Al-Ahli Tripoli's defeat at the hands of Al-Shabab by 64-57 has allow-ed the Basketball League title race to hot up with three teams now sharing the top billing. After 17 matches Al-Ahli have been joined by Al-Shabab, but even have a better points' difference than AL-Ahli and the other table-toppers Al-Ittihad who beat Al-Tahaddi 71-49.

Al-Nasser, who obtained their 13th victory in the campaign, with the round's largest points' difference, 103-52 over Al-Yarmouk, are fourth (a pint behind) in the standings in a healthy enough position from where they are able to spring a final challenge for honors with five matches remaining.
