UGANDA : Fuba calls up team for Africa event

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (Fuba) has summoned over 70 players (boys and girls) for national team trials ahead of the Africa Zone Five U-18 Championships due August 11-15 at Lugogo.
30 players will be selected after the trials to be hosted at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono this weekend. “All the summoned players have to be at YMCA Wandegeya on Saturday and Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. We shall then transport them to and from Mukono for the trials,” Fuba assistant general secretary Joseph Manano said.
Uganda will play against Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt and Eritrea in a bid to qualify for the Africa U-18 Championships due October in Cairo.
Egypt have already qualified for the continental showpiece, leaving the other nine countries to fight for the remaining one slot Nabisunsa Girls’ Aisha Nakabubi, Joyce Zalwango and Charlene Karungi are some of the stars invited for trials.
