TANZANIA : BD sets deadline for regional tourney

The Basketball Dar es Salaam (BD) has set May 31 as the last date for teams to confirm their participation in the East and Central Africa Inter-Cities Basketball championship.
The event will be staged in Dar es Salaam from June 24-28 at the Indoor Stadium.
BD president Simon Msofe said over the weekend that the teams which would not meet the deadline would be kept at bay.
He said 10 cities had so far confirmed their participation including defending champions Nairobi of Kenya.
He named others as hosts Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Arusha (Tanzania), Mombasa (Kenya), Kampala (Uganda), Kigali (Rwanda), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and Lusaka (Zambia).
Lusaka and Addis Ababa will compete for the first time.
