UGANDA : Marines, Power Collide

Two-time champions Nkumba University Marines return to the MTN-Fuba Basketball League action tonight at Lugogo Indoor Stadium with hope of recording a second straight victory against Sadolin Power.

Marines, who lost their most influential players Norman and Donald Blick, won their season-opening game 65-50 against Crane High School last weekend but the clash against Power won't be as easy.
Power, champions in 2000, bitterly lost 51-54 to Kampala International University (KIU) in their first game last Friday, and can't afford to go down easily again.
Power are still without star players Mark Enabu and Allan Tawoda, who are serving a four-match suspension because of indiscipline but Isaac Afidra is confident his team can deliver.
"Guys were not that focused against KIU. Good thing is, team discipline has improved and I am sure we are going to get our groove on against Marines," Afidra said.
Though Marines look an average team without the Blick brothers, coach Timothy Odeke still has the belief they are capable of beating any team. "Boys are working together as a team and that's the most important thing," Odeke said.

In the games played Wednesday night, KIU drubbed Crane High School 95-51 while 2005 women champions A-1 Challenge opened their season with an 87-34 victory over Makerere Cubs.
KIU dominated from start to finish with their post players Michael Karuiki and Markmot Orom turning the game into a dunking contest. Second Division outfit Vegetarian registered a hard fought 79-75 win over MBC Rocks.
