UGANDA : KIU wants play-offs position, says Alule

Kampala International University (KIU) are capable of making the MTN-Fuba Basketball League play-offs for the first time, according to senior player Pascal Alule.

KIU had a perfect start last season, winning their first four games but unbelievably crumbled to finish sixth in the 10-team topflight league.
But following the acquisition of the towering Michael Karuiki from relegated Youth Heaters and Mande Juruni (Rhino), confidence is high in the KIU camp that they can compete for the top prize this term.
“If other players have the desire to reach the post season like I do, then nothing will stop us. We have a big squad and the work ethic is just enough,” Alule, who crossed from Livingstone last year said.

KIU showed they are the team to beat when they defeated 2000 champions Sadolin Power 54-51 in the season-opening encounter at Lugogo last Friday.
The Kasanga-based team takes on newly promoted Crane High School at Lugogo Indoor Stadium tonight and victory will see them move top of the table.
Crane High lost to Marines in the first game. In today’s early games (5:30 pm), Second Division giants Vegetarian face Rubaga-based MBC Rocks while 2005 women champions A-1 Challenge open their season against lowly Makerere Cubs.
