Kigali
The male junior national basketball team has started intensive preparations ahead of the upcoming Zone V championship scheduled to take place mid next month in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.
Twenty players were summoned to start residential training that started last Friday at Amahoro indoor stadium. The players are residing at Versina Motel in Kibagabaga on the outskirts of Kigali.
The National juniors were selected among 400 students who took part in the national talent detection campaign last year.
The Kampala event is also the elimination for national junior teams that will play in this year's Africa Junior Championship scheduled to take place August in Cairo, Egypt.
According to local basketball federation officials, the juniors will play build up matches against local giants APR and CSK A before a selection tournament a week before to the Kampala event.
