KENYA : Maseno And Kisumu Boys Claim Basketball Trophies

Maseno School and Kisumu Boys' won the Kisumu West and Kisumu East districts schools basketball title respectively at the weekend.
Maseno renewed their hunt for the national schools basketball title by humiliating Ngere Secondary 116-16 in a one sided duel in their backyard.
Experienced Edwin Otula, Vincent Juma and Ken Oonga steered the former national champion's victory.
Otula emerged top scorer after netting 26 points while Juma and Oonga scored 12 and nine points respectively.
Despite the defeat, Ngere will accompany Maseno to the Nyanza Provincial first term 'A' ball games championship at Migori High School from Monday to Saturday. Maseno will be defending the provincial title.
St Barnabas Girls High send Sinyolo secondary packing by 54-23 to win the girls' title in an entertaining encounter at the same venue.
Hosts Maseno eliminated Ngere 4-3 to win the hockey title while Sinyolo went down 1-0 to St Barnabas during the girls' finals.
Maseno maintained their dominance in the competition by winning the Rugby Sevens title after running over hapless Ngere by 50-0 in the finals.
Kisumu Boys were declared the Kisumu East district champions without dribbling a ball after their perennial rivals Kisumu Day declined to play after their demand to have referees changed was rejected.
Kisumu Day coaches said referees who were to officiate the match were former teachers at Kisumu Boys and would be biased.
Kisumu Girls' struggled to beat St Teresas 34-23 to lift the title.
In hockey (boys), Kisumu Day, the provincial reigning champions, stopped Kisumu Boys by 2-0 in an action packed encounter.
Both teams have qualified for the provincial championship.
Kisumu Girls once again disciplined St Teresa's by hammering them 5-0 to win the girls' title in a final they dominated right from word go.
