ANGOLA : 1º De Agosto Beats Petro in Balanced Encounter
1º de Agosto senior team of basketball Tuesday night in Luanda beat its Petro-Atlético de Luanda counterpart by 75-80, in a balanced first leg match of Angola Cup quarter finals.
In the 10 minutes of the game, 1º de Agosto (African champion) was winning by 09-11, but the initial period ended in a 21-17 score.
By the first break of the competition, the team coached by Alberto de Carvalho was losing by 34-51.
In the third period, Petro scored a significant recovery, having led the score to 44-50.
However, 1º de Agosto kept its advantage throughout the whole third part of the game that ended in a 53-45 score.
The narrowest gap in the game score was 68-71, when four minutes were left for the end of the encounter. 1º de august owed its 80-75 win to its serenity in the last minutes of the competition.
The second leg match will take place on Tuesday at "Rio Seco" pavilion.
