MOSES Olobo is leaving 2006 National Basketball League champions Nkumba Marines for a new challenge with Kampala International University (KIU).

Olobo, commonly known as the iron man, becomes the fourth star player to indicate he wouldn't play for the two-time champions next season.

Blick brothers Norman and Donald together with Carrol Bisereko have already decided to join newly promoted KCC Lions.

Unlike the trio, Olobo has the blessings of Marines team manager Patrick Ssebuliba.

"Olobo has been offered a scholarship at KIU and I can't stop him from studying," said Ssebuliba. "But bearing in mind the quality of player Olobo is, KIU must compensate us. They have to pay for his services."
Olobo, one of the most physical players in the league, has already featured for KIU, leading them to the National Universities championship.
They defeated hosts Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono in the finals. Though he has played for KIU, Marines might protest his presence in the league unless they are given a cash compensation.
Meanwhile Ssebuliba has dismissed claims that another star Karl Mugalu is also on his way out. "I think Karl will be the last to leave Marines. At least I know he can't because he is one of our pioneers and has in some cases contributed funds to the club," Ssebuliba said.
