KENYA : Agina Wesonga will not seek re-election as KBF boss
Agina Wesonga will not seek re-election as Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) President, he said over the weekend.
The KBF boss reitereated his earlier stand not to seek re-election during the Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) branch polls at the Railways Club over weekend.
"I will not seek re-election as your chairman when the polls are called." he told the delegates. Vice chairman Henry Shihemi and Paul Otula have declared their intentions to succeed Agina.
Only Nairobi and Coast held their elections. Other branches like Central, Eastern, Western, Rift Valley and Nyanza will hold their in due course after which the national polls will be called.
Ronny Owino was re-elected unopposed as the NBA chairman for another four year term.
Seven other officials also went in unopposed during the elections conducted by veteran sports administrator Joseph Masyuko and and KBF chairman Agina Wesonga.
In the only contested positions, Sylvia Njeri trounced Rogers Mutahi 48-2 to take the assistant scretary while Caleb Osewe became the new assistant fixtures secretary after beating Juma Kent 39-12.
A total of 55 delegates representing 29 teams took part in the peaceful excercise that saw veteran coach Gitau Waringo stun the delegates when he stepped down for Dorothy Ouko for the position of 1st Vice chairman.
Wesonga commended NBA in the manner they have run the affairs of the association in the last fours years saying they have been very active and asked other branches to emulate them.

1st Vice Chairman: Dorothy Ouko
2nd Vice Chairman: Wycliffe Obingo
Secretary: Peter Orero
Asst Secretary: Sylvia Njeri
Treasurer: Dann O'Werre
Asst Treasuer: Josephine Nabwire
Fixrtures Secretary: Joseph Amoko
Asst F/S: Caleb Osewe.
