FALCONS' skipper Eric Malinga and Kyambogo Warriors maestro Ronnie Kasewu are favourites for this year's topflight Most Valuable Player's (MVP) accolade.

Malinga stood high, leading an out of sorts Falcons side to the play-offs when his brother Henry was out injured in the regular season and was equally outstanding during the final series.

Though Warriors lost 2-3 to Falcons in the best of five final series, Kasewu exhibited vividness and gave fans their money's worth throughout the season.

His dribbling skills and accurate shooting make him a top contender for the accolade that is currently held by Nkumba Marines star Boniface Okello.
Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (Fuba) is organizing an awards ceremony due this Saturday but officials are tightlipped on which candidate is favourite.

But Daily Monitor has seen a shortlist that also includes Warriors' duo of Stephen Okias and Brian Gumisiriza and Henry Malinga (Falcons).

Becky Akullo and Miriam Hamala, who led KCC Leopards to their maiden championship, are favourites for the women's award together with A-1 Challenge's Ali Mavita.
