TANZANIA : Loyola, Mwinyi schools in SBL final today
By Brown Msyani
Loyola and Ali Hassan Mwinyi Elite Schools (AHMES) have qualified to play in the final match of the Dar es Salaam Secondary School Basketball League that takes place today at the National Indoor Stadium.
The teams romped into the final stage after recording massive wins in the semi final matches held at the same venue on Friday.
AHMES, the new force in the Dar es Salaam basketball circuit routed Azania Secondary School 43-26 while Loyola defeated Tegeta 28-28 in the second match.
Azania, one of the teams that made impressive show in the tournament relied heavily on William Muze, who failed to get effective support from his team mates and walked out of the court with 18 points on his account.
Until the end of the first half, AHMES were leading 21-15.
Other players who won people's appeal include Daniel Jones of AHMES, the tournament's youngest player who teamed well with Solomon Manase to score most of the points for the winners.
Leading 14- 6 until the breather, Loyola punished the former champions Tegeta 28-20 in the closely contested semi final. The Girls' discipline final match will pit AHMES A and AHMES B.
