RWANDA : CSK a Humbles Espoir
Espoir suffered their worst ever display in local basketball play-offs history after failing to qualify for this year's final.
The Nyamirambo based club crushed out of the race after suffering two straight game defeats against CSK A; one of this year's league debutants.
After a 62-56 defeat in the first game, CSK A wrapped up a fine display with an 84-76 score to rewrite history as the first club to make it to the play-off final in their debut season.
After two failed attempts in 2005 and 2006, Marine registered back to back wins over Rusizi, another one of the league debutants to set up a clash with CSK A in the final.
A 79-61 victory on Saturday and a 75-70 victory on Sunday was enough to sail the Gisenyi-based side through to their first final.
In the ladies' category, Rwanda National University (UNR) and APR made light work of ISAE and Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) respectively to set themselves up for a final's clash.
According to reports from the local basketball governing body, the final rolls off this Saturday at Amahoro Indoor Stadium and will be played on a best of three format.
