13th Champions Cup for women – Maputo 07: Djoliba in narrow win
Djoliba basketball club of Mali Monday recorded her first win in group-A of the 13th FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women with a 52-48 points victory over Arc-En-Ciel basketball club of DR Congo.
The Congolese were leading by 27-24 points at halftime but gave up to the power play of the Malian anchored by Aminata Sininta who led her teammate with 16 points, 7 rebounds and one block.
Djoliba came back forcefully in the third and fourth quarters winning by 14-08 and 14-13 points respectively to earn her first win which has raised their hope of qualifying for the knock)-out stage.
Aminata Sereme poured in 15 points while Minata Keita recorded a double double of 17 rebounds and 12 points to lift the Malian. Arc-En-Ciel Jeanine Kapinga was the only player on her side to record a double figure with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
