WARRIORS are just two wins away from a guaranteed play-offs slot in the National Basketball League after a 91-75 won over bottom side Knight Riders on Saturday evening at the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Courts in Wandegeya.
The Kyambogo-based side moved to 27 points, three behind table leaders Uganda Christian University (UCU) Canons, and two more victories in their remaining four games will see them book a slot in the last four.
In contrast, Riders must win all the remaining five games, and pray that fixtures involving Youth Heaters and Charging Rhino, go their way.
Ronnie Kasewu registered a game high 23 points, Jude Ochen 15 and Stephen Okias 8 as Warriors thwarted a late Riders comeback manned by Collin Mukiza (17), John Musoke (17) and Rogers Odiama (8).
2003 women champions Makerere Sparks had Rebecca Ndibalekera (15) and Vicky Nassolo (14) in double figures as they stopped newcomers Victoria Lakers 79-31.
Mercy Kasobya stood out for Lakers with a game high 16 points.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth Kizza (17) and Josephine Namayega (20) gave 2005 champions A-1 Challenge a convincing 79-24 victory over hapless Amazon Rhino, who missed most of their senior players.
Jinja based 2001 champions Sky Jammers and Crane High didn't turn up for their games against MBC Rocks and Vegetarian. They lost their points by forfeit.
