NKUMBA Marines beat a shaky Mogas Falcons team in the battle for the national basketball league playoffs. Marines sped to an early lead by pressing their opponents into turnovers and converting with consistency.

Norman Blick made the difference with a game-high 15 points while Olobo Moses scored 13 for the Marines.

The result takes Marines to position fourth with 21 points, one ahead of Falcons although they have played one more game.

Meanwhile, hosts Angola overcame a stubborn Cameroon side to triumph 86-72 and consolidate their chances of winning the FIBA African Basketball Championship for the fifth straight time.
