KENYA : Sprite Storms Crush Jkuat to Storm to Second Place

Sprite Storms stormed to the second spot on the women's basketball Premier League table standings when they walloped Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology 91-28 at the Nyayo National Stadium yesterday.
In other matches at the same venue, Eagle Wings rocked Catholic Dream Team 64-41, while Mike Opel lead Lomboritz to a 55-35 win over Nairobi Pentecostal Church.
Storms remain on course to finish in the top four in the women's pre-season competition after humiliating the lowly Juja-based varsity side.
Storms have garnered 17 points from eight wins and have lost only once. Yana still top the table with 18 points from 11 outings.
In the Storms' match, Hilda Luvandwa, Irene Makori and Emma Nyakweba terrorised the varsity girls throughout the match.
The trio began the game on a high, steering Storms to a 24-7 lead in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Caroline Ouma also added spark as Storms finished with a 22-4 lead.
Luvandwa scored a game-high 20 points, Nyakweba had 14 while Adetunji added 10 for the Storms.
Silvia Omollo managed 11 for the students, who are automatically out of the running for the 2007 play-offs.
In another match, Veteran Pamella Asige fired 16 points, while Pamela Ikonga added 15 as Eagle Wings beat Catholic Dream Team 64-41.
