CAN ’07: Senegal beat Morocco to 9th place

2005 runner-up of the FIBA Africa Championship for Men, Senegal today in Benguela, Angola defeated Morocco to place 9th in the 16-nations championship which will come to a close on Saturday.

The Senegalese won two out of the four quarters (second – 22-14 and third – 20-17) while drawing its opponent in the first and last quarters – 16-16 and 21-21.

Morocco host in 2001 thus end its campaign in Angola on the 10th spot and will have to qualify from its zone for the 2009 edition billed for Nigeria.

Mali recorded a 78-74 points victory over Rwanda (20-13; 18-17; 21-25 and 19-19) in the placement 11-12 position, South Africa humbled fellow zone-6 member Mozambique by 97-85 points (18-20; 30-17; 16-23 and 33-25) to place 13th. Just as DR Congo ended Liberia dream of winning a single match in the 11-day championship with 92-84 points win (24-19; 29-25; 19-20 and 20-20.
