Afrobasket ’07: Cameroon Luc made Africa Best-5

Youthful Cameroon guard/forward, Luc Richard Mbah A Moute was selected into the continent’s top-5 team (All-star) of the 24th FIBA Africa Championship which ended Saturday in Luanda, Angola.

19-year Mbah played an important role in his team, Cameroon successful run which saw them play in the grand finale against Angola thus booking a playoff slot for the 2008 Olympic Games.

Other players who made the Africa-5 are championship most valuable player, (MVP) and Angola forward, Joaquim Brandao Gomes and his team-mate Cipriano Olimpio, the duo of Cape Verde guard and centre, Marques Houtman and Roberto Mascarenhas complete the roster.

Malian Modibo Niakate won the highest point scorer; Egypt’s forward, Tarek El-Ghannam won the highest rebounder award; Atef Maoua of Tunisia was the championship best three points shooter while the national team of Mozambique bagged the fair play trophy.
