AFTER five successive losses, Kampala International University (KIU) finally recovered with a 62-47 convincing win over Charging Rhino in a National Basketball League game played Saturday evening at YMCA Wandegeya.
KIU started the season with four straight wins but lost the last five games of first round, including one to Rhino. KIU though spurred by Isaac Afidra's 23 points gained revenge over Rhino in their opening fixture of second round and moved up to fifth position on the 10-team table with 15 points.
Rhino had David Kiberu as the leading scorer with 14 points. Makmot Orom added 16 points for KIU while Sande Okot and Ronnie Kalule contributed 11 apiece for Rhino. “It's a game gone but we hope to make amends next time,” said Kiberu.
Women's table leaders KCC Leopards kept a clean sheet in 11 games after they clipped Amazon Rhino 79-35. Becky Akullo led the mayor's girls with 25 points while Florence Nanyonga grabbed 11 for Amazon.
