NIGERIA : Nigeria teams off to a good start
The Mfon Udoka led Lady Tigers began the defence of their gold medal won four years ago also on a good note beating Zimbabwe comprehensively by 30 points margin of 85-55 points.
Other countries that had their name on the winners sheet of the day-one of the basketball event of the Africa version of the world Olympic Games include Egypt who defeated Tunisia by 86-64 points just as Cameroon recorded a 75-50 points win over Liberia in the men category, while the games between games gold medal defending champion, Angola against Congo and that of South Africa versus host Algeria were still on at the time of this report.
In the women cadre Mozambique playing in group-A alongside host Algeria defeated Cote d'Ivoire by 63-39 points, Angola ladies fell to the superior fire power of DR Congo by 74-58 points while Tunisia managed a 58-56 points victory over Kenya.
