NIGERIA : I'll Justify My Captain's Band - Oyedeji
Seoul Samsung Thunders basketball club star, Olumide Oyedeji has promised to be a good leader, as the country's Senior Men national team, D'Tigers begins their campaign at the 9th All Africa Games holding in Algiers.
Oyedeji, who was named the new captain of the team by the coaching crew of the Nigeria side last week, said the country has all the chance to win the gold medal bat the African fiesta.
"We have what it takes to win gold at the All Africa Games. All things been equal, we are going there to be good ambassador of this our great country. I personal as the captain of the team, I'll be loyal to my country and the rest of the team. We'll try our possible best to make sure we don't fail the nation," he said.
The former Seattle Supersonic centre fell out with former Coach Sam Vincent before the 2006 FIBA World Championship held in Japan following irreconcilable differences.
The twelve-man list for the games starting July 11 through 23 is made up of nine foreign based and three home based players. They include captain of the 2006 Commonwealth games squad, Abdulrahman Mohammed, Chamberlain Oguchi, Ejike Ugboaja, Abdullahi Kuso. Others are home boy and former captain of the Nigeria U19 team Orseer Ikyaator, Abubakar Usman, Stanley Gumut, Deji Akindele, Bazuaye Obahon, Michael Umeh and Henry Ogwuma.
