TANZANIA : Broke TBF crying for help

| THE Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) has asked all the teams that will take part in this year's national championship to meet their own costs. TBF Secretary-General, Lawrence Cheyo, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the federation has for failed to secure sponsorship for the event to be held in the city next month. He said that they have approached various sponsors who are still working on their request. As a precaution, the participating teams must meet their own costs so that the event is held as planned," he said. Cheyo said teams from Arusha, Dodoma, Morogoro, Mwanza, Mbeya, Tanga, Shinyanga and Dar es Salaam are expected to take part. However, he was worried that many teams may pull out of the event for lack of funds. He appealed to companies and individuals to sponsor the tournament, which is aimed at promoting talents as well as picking the national team for various international commitments. | |
