Basketball in Africa

Dar es Salaam City men and women basketball teams, The Dream teams, will on Tuesday leave for Nairobi, Kenya,to compete in the Intercities competition scheduled for the sameday.
The Dar es Salaam Basketball(BD)Executive Director, Mbaga Mwamboma,said the squad of 12 players each and some officials will travel to Nairobi by road.

Mwamboma said they were still scouting for money to facilitate their travel to Nairobi. The total amount of money budgeted for was 14m/- as some sponsors had expressed wish to contribute.
``We are still looking for the money, because our players and the officials accompanying them will need allowances, bus fares and what have you,`` said Mwamboma.
These teams have trained for almost one month at the Don Bosco and National Indoor Stadium, but have not done much of trial matches for the simple reason that most of the players have been picked from big teams in the city.

Meanwhile, The Mwanza city basketball association, will send only men team, the Rocky City, to the competition due to lack of women players.
