KENYA : Usiu shock KCB Lions in Premier League tie

By Dann O’were

United States International University (Usiu) shocked Kenya Commercial Bank Lions 57-52 in a tough Premier League tie at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.

Lions, who have lost one match to Co-op, had little to offer as Dan Okwirri, Papilon Odhiambo and Djibril Oudraogou had other ideas.

The students led 29-28 at half time, but trailed 42-45 as the start of the last quarter. When international Okwirri started to exert pressure, Lions faltered as Oudraogou nailed 20 points while Okwirri shot 14.

For a bewildered Lions side that missed coach Francis Ngunjiri, Tobias Onyango made 16 and ex-USIU player Yoni Wanambiro added 12.
