TANZANIA : US youth basketball team for Tanzania
American`s Young Life Trust basketball team has been invited to play against Tanzania in the special sports festival, set to start in Dar es Salaam on June 5.
The US team comprising players from colleges, is expected to jet in to the country on June 2. They have been invited by the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF).
The TBF President, Richard Kasesera told reporters in Dar es Salaam yesterday that apart from competing in several matches, the US team will also participate in the basketball coaches clinic to be staged in the city.
He said the US troop tour aims at boosting the game in the country, scouting for young talents and exchanging ideas with local teenagers about the war against HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Kasesera said the matches will be played at the Ubungo national housing grounds.Young Life Trust is a Non-Profit charitable organization, Non-Governmental; it is committed to witnessing adolescents making an impact on the lives of youths who are preparing for the future.
The organization reaches out to secondary school students, youths in the streets and ghettos and goes out to where kids are meeting, building positive friendship through sports activities, skits, songs and cultural activities.
