SEYCHELLES : PLS Hawks and Premium Cobras to meet Sunday
LOCAL basketball giants Premium Cobras and PLS Hawks will be involved in a fund-raising exhibition match on Sunday March 11, starting at 4 p.m. at the Palais des Sports, Roche Caïman.
According to a spokesperson for the Premium Cobras management team, the two clubs have decided to organise the match to raise funds for the 2007 season.
While PLS Hawks aren’t involved in any international competition this year, Premium Cobras are to travel to Reunion later this year to participate in the Indian Ocean Club Championship (IOCC).
The team, who have acquired the services of Francis ‘Toy’ Herminie from Beau Vallon Heat in the off-season, will be hoping to reclaim the IOCC title after losing last year’s title decider to Sebam de Mahajanga of Madagascar.
Premium Cobras have won the annual competition twice in 1999 and 2005.
In Sunday’s exhibition match, PLS Hawks as well as neutral basketball fans will have the chance to see retired shooting guard Jefferson NGanga and playmaker/guard Bernard Bristol, who is currently serving a two-year suspension, in action.
Both teams aren’t expected to take Sunday’s exhibition match lightly as there is always fine plays and tough basketball in every match-up between PLS Hawks and Premium Cobras.
Tickets for the match cost R20 for adults and R10 for children under 12 years old.
