KENYA : St Austin’s, Jaffrey’s sail to basketball final

St Austin’s Academy and Nairobi Jafferey’s Academy have qualified for the boys’ basketball final of the Nairobi secondary schools Term One Games.

St Austin’s overwhelmed Starehe Boys Centre 73-28 while Jaffrey’s defeated Upper Hill 66-39 in the semi-finals at Lenana School on Saturday.
St Austin’s went on the offensive from the start to take a 12-0 lead after four minutes. Kevin Samora recorded the game’s high 26 points while team-mate, David Ogola, sank 14 points.
Paul Karanja was Starehe’s top scorer with nine points while Josiah Omwenga managed eight. In the second match, Lopez Reegan converted 18 points for Jaffrey’s while Ryan Misigo top-scored for Upper Hill with 14 points.

In the girls’ category, Buru Buru defeated Moi Girls 39-27 while St George’s trounced Pangani 57-30 in the semi-finals. Mercine Miumu contributed 17 points for Buru Buru with Marsha Owiti and Kimberly Aduma scoring 12 apiece for Moi Girls.
Janet Okoth (17 points) and Grace Kendi (16) were outstanding in St George’s attack while Arabella Litole starred for Pangani with 10 points.
