THE 2007 basketball season won't have any newcomers after the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (Fuba) decided not to increase the number of teams.
Last season over 40 teams took part in the league but the new Fuba executive is even planning to eject some old ones.

The decision was reached during last Friday's consultative meeting between the executive and club representatives. The members agreed that the number of teams had overwhelmed match officials and facilities. Over 40 teams took part in last year's league.
Fuba president Ambrose Tashobya also revealed to the members that they were planning to increase registration fees for every team from Shs100,000 to Shs200,000. Some members, who argued that clubs have no sources of revenue, however did not buy the idea.
At the meeting it was also decided teams pay registration fee before March 15. The league is expected to start late next month or in April.
“ Teams have at times finished the season without paying but this time round its going to be different. We are planning a classic league that is so organised,”said Tashobya.
