UGANDA : Club Basketball Postponed to August
FEDERATION of Burundi Basketball Association has moved the East and Central Africa basketball club championships from April to August in Bujumbura.
The decision was reached after the Burundi weather forecast revealed that April would be a month of heavy rains.
"We have only outdoor courts which cannot be used in rainy conditions, a situation that has prompted us to move the championships forward to August," Burundi basketball vice-chairman Alexis Songomwa noted.Uganda will be represented by 2006 league winners Nkumba-Marines and Lady Bucks at the event.
Meanwhile, it was mixed fortunes for hosts Rwanda as the Zone V All Africa Games qualifiers started in Kigali last weekend.
The men's team lost 82-66 to tournament favourites Egypt before the women's team restored the country's pride and hopes of qualifying with a 66-49 win over Burundi.
