LIBERIA : U.S. Embassy Hosts Charity Basketball Tournament

The United States Embassy in collaboration with Right to Play, an international non-governmental organization has organized a "charity basketball tournament" to help Liberian youth repair the basketball courts in their communities.
According to a release from the US Embassy public affairs section, additional games will be played every Sunday through March 18, 2007 at the U.S. Embassy compound basketball court.

The release said, funds raised from the tournament will be used to construct a basketball court in a local community that needs it. So far, the tournament has generated much money, but the organizers are hoping more people will contribute to this effort, the release said.

On Sunday, February 11, three exciting matches took place with Hustlers and Road Runners narrowly going down to Y-shooters and Urban respectively. In the day's first encounter, Veterans collected a landslide victory of DiplomatThe tournament, which began on January 28, 2007 involves several local basketball teams including "Hustlers" of Lone Star Cell, "Road Runners", "Urban", "Veterans", "Y-Shooters", and "Diplomats" of the US Embassy.
