KENYA : Tough draw for national champions Laiser Hill and Mombasa High

National Schools basketball champions Laiser Hill Academy (boys ) and Mombasa High School (girls) are placed in tough groups in this year’s national championships to be staged in Eldoret from April 9 to 15.

Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association secretary general David Ngugi gave the groupings when released the association’s calendar of events for the year and the first term games draws.
The draw has placed Laiser Hill Academy in the same group with their bogey teams from Nyanza, Central and Coast while group B has Rift Valley representatives, Eastern, Nairobi and Western.
In the girls’ draws, defending champions Mombasa High are placed in a tough pool A which also has last years runners-up and third placed Western and Rift Valley and Nairobi while pool B has Coast representatives, Eastern, Central and Nyanza.’
In boys’ hockey, defending champions Friends school Kamusinga are in pool A which also has Coast, Central and Nyanza while Pool B has Western representatives, Eastern and Nairobi. The girls’ group has defending champions Hillcrest, Western, Central and Eastern in group A while group B has Nairobi representatives, Rift Valley, Nyanza and Coast.
Ngugi said arrangements for accommodation were complete with the boys teams being accommodated at the Hill School while the girls teams will stay at Moi Girls Eldoret.
Ngugi also said the term Two A games featuring athletics, 15s rugby, handball and netball will be held in Kakamega from June 3 to 9 while term Two B games featuring soccer, volleyball and racquet games will be played in Nyeri from August 6 to 12.
Ngugi added that the East African School games will be hosted by Kisumu from August 26 to September 2 at venues which will be announced later.
