FORMER basketball Most Valuable Player Henry Malinga has returned to fight for a place on the national team.

The Falcons basketball team centre, who has been AWOL, was one of the 33 players who began individual training at the Makerere University pool court and Main ground.
The national basketball teams resumed training yesterday ahead of the East, Central and Southern Africa Basketball Championships (ECSABC) slated for February 5-11 in Kigali, Rwanda.Coach Robert Ndamagye said it was good to have the 6'5" Malinga back on the squad.
"He will have to fight for his place from a pool of very good players. It is exciting to have quality options to pick from," the coach said.
Malinga was part of the team that played for Uganda in 2005. They upstaged Tanzania before surprising Kenya 61-60 at the ECSABC finals in Kampala to claim the regional crown.
