NIGERIA : Country May Host Basketball Nations Cup
There are strong indications that Nigeria has been tipped as favourite to host the next edition of the FIBA African Nations Cup Basketball Championship for men.
Trustsports gathered that the technical report of the last African Club Championship for Men, hosted by Dodan Warriors in Lagos, has placed the country at an advantage position to host again the rest of Africa.The reports submitted to FIBA headquarter by the technical committee of the last FIBA championship dwelled on the good provision of facilities, accommodation and security arrangement put in place during the championship.
The facilities according to the report were of top standard and would be able to host the Nations Cup championship.
Meanwhile, President of Nigeria Basketball Federation, Buba Gyang has reiterated Nigeria's preparedness towards hosting the African Nations Cup for Men.Gyang, who was excited at the successful hosting of the FIBA African Championship by Dodan Warriors hinted that the Federation is on the verge of completing all necessary papers works and discussions with top officials of the African basketball ruling body, FIBA Africa.
"We are ripe to host the African Nations Cup if what I saw during the Champions Cup is anything to go bye. Discussion is on at the secretariat of FIBA Africa, once we agreed and the consent given, we'll do better than this," he said during the final of the Championship which was won by Athletico Petroles of Angola.
"Dodan Warriors did a marvelous job and have shown that given added responsibility, we'll do more," Buba submitted.
