EGYPT : Egypt for Basketball Challenge
THE Egyptian national basketball team is the latest entrant in the East, Central and Southern Africa Senior Challenge Cup.
The Zone Five event is programmed for February 25-March 3, 2007 in Kigali, Rwanda.Egypt, making a first appearance, will be welcomed to the regional event with what should be an easy fixture against underdogs Zanzibar.
Following the Egyptian U-20 national team's remarkable display during the ANOCA Games in Nairobi, Kenya, the seniors team members claim they have been inspired to prepare for the Challenge Cup.
Egypt, who maintained a clean sheet, emerged winners of the U-20 ANOCA basketball competition. They defeated Rwanda 87-62 at the final, a feat their senior team also hopes to achieve during the Senior Challenge Cup. Uganda are the defending champions.
